Heartburn and Insomnia

It’s 1:15 AM, and I’ve got a slight case of heartburn (from what, I don’t know) and insomnia.  In the past, I’ve found that when my brain is tired (as it is right now), I often do my best work.  Years ago, a couple who was checking out our church asked me about a certain doctrinal position that our church holds.  They sent me some things concerning their position.  I read through them, and starting around midnight, I started typing my response.

Wow.  I didn’t stop until 2:00 AM.  And I’d had some insights into Scripture that I’d never had before.

I got some sleep, re-read what I’d written, did a little editing, and that was that.  Somewhere in the bowels of my hard drive, I still have that document.  Now, I’m going to do a little work on a leadership thing that I’m kind of working on together with a buddy who’s doing microchurch stuff out in Vegas.  Maybe the wires that are crossed in my head will start firing again.

And hopefully I’ll be in bed before 4:00 AM.

About Aaron

Aaron is a follower of Jesus. He's married to his smokin' hot wife Laura and is the father of three adorable girls. He enjoys a robust cigar, a complex root beer, a good movie, writing, football, thought-provoking books, and rousing discussions about subjects you're not supposed to talk about (like theology and politics). Religious people irritate him (because he once was one). He's on a quest to find the perfect dry rub and sauce for ribs.
