An insurance adjuster finally showed up yesterday to assess the damage our neighbor’s tree caused (it only took three weeks!). He assured me that the damage would be covered. We’ll see. Now we’re waiting on an estimate of what they’ll cover.
Laura and I also discussed how we stand at the present. At our current price, we attracted a lot of action. We had a good number of showings in the first three weeks, but those showings have trickled down to nothing in the past week, and we’ve had one showing in the past two weeks. All of the feedback was really positive. People loved the house–the layout, the colors, everything. But no offers came in (although our realtor said some were considering, but we heard nothing).
We did the math, talked with our realtor, and decided to lower our price a little. We know that’s its only been a month, but there are several things that are upping our need to move. The good news is that at the new price, we will still make a good chunk ‘o change. We won’t lose any money, and we’ll still have enough to pay off all or most of our debt and put down a sizable down payment on our next place.
One of the things that could up our need to move–I have a job interview in several weeks in Greenville. It’s for a hospice chaplain position, which would be amazing. I still get to use my main skill set that I’ve developed as a “professional Christian” and I’ll get to meet a lot of people. I took a gamble by asking for an interview, but the gamble paid off. The interview is scheduled for March 13, so pray for me as I prep for the interview and that our new price will generate new showings and some offers on the house.
As always, we’re learning to trust God and His timing. It isn’t easy sometimes…
