What Happens in G-Vegas

Yesterday I posted about a new development here in Greenville in our effort to make disciples.  Here’s what happened…

Several weeks ago, I had a great chat with my buddy Aaron Snow, who just moved to Austin, TX.  When we chatted, he was still in Las Vegas prepping for his move to Austin.  He talked about a group of Christian students who were meeting together in Austin, and how he and his wife would be hanging out with that simple church and encouraging them.  The cool thing was, everyone involved in that simple church would use that time for encouragement and equipping, and then go out into their world and look to start simple churches in their communities.  That got me thinking and praying…

Laura and I invited two other couples to start hanging out with us during the week.  Both couples are involved in different churches here in Greenville.  One of the husbands is an associate minister and the other is a music minister.  We’ve all known each other for awhile.  We’ve decided to get together for a time of encouragement and equipping.  It provides our family with the community we need as we look to make disciples and see new simple churches sprout in Greenville.  It gives these couples encouragement for their ministries.  We all agreed that this was something that was much needed.  We ate together, chatted, laughed, and prayed.  After everyone went home, Laura and I looked at each other and smiled.  We’re excited about what God may do through this group to help take Greenville back for the kingdom of God.  For now, this will be our church.

Please continue praying for us as we seek to bring light into darkness here in Greenville.  Seeds are being planted and cultivated, disciples are starting to be encouraged and equipped to become agents of the kingdom.  I’ll post updates as I have them.

About Aaron

Aaron is a follower of Jesus. He's married to his smokin' hot wife Laura and is the father of three adorable girls. He enjoys a robust cigar, a complex root beer, a good movie, writing, football, thought-provoking books, and rousing discussions about subjects you're not supposed to talk about (like theology and politics). Religious people irritate him (because he once was one). He's on a quest to find the perfect dry rub and sauce for ribs.

  1. I love it! Well, we’re here in Austin now-been here almost 1 week now….1 SOLID week of unpacking boxes, painting walls, and hanging…things…? (random objects of no particular use=) Some of the students you referred to from our conversation in your post were over tonight. We are almost giddy thinking about the next 6 months of life here in Austin where we get to sharpen one another to go make disciples…and see new communities start…for a long time those two phrases were theory…ya know…? It’s been really neat to start to see catch phrases that have been theory for SO long start to actually play out in REAL life…ahhhh….thank you Lord for what you’re doing! Excited for you guys, Aaron. Keep us readers posted on the life that comes through your time with the other families!
