Walking the Road: 5/17/10 Edition

Every Monday, I’m going to post links to some thought provoking blogs I’ve read in the past week from people who are trying to follow Jesus.  Some posts I agree with; others I don’t.  Either way, they stirred my thinking.  I hope they’ll do the same for you.

Answering People’s Questions from Tim Chester
An excellent post about dealing with people’s objections to Christianity.  Don’t try to outsmart or debate them.  Simply point them to Jesus.

Ribbons, Magnets, and Colored Bras from Leading Smart (Tim Stevens)
Are you a “slactivist”?  Thought-provoking post on “easy” activism.  Still thinking about this one.

Proactive and Reactive Intentionality from Tim Chester
Great thoughts on how Christians must live with more proactive intentionality.  Not sure what that is?  Read the post to find out.

Courageous Prayers from Stream of Thought
Kevin Colon is a really smart dude who planted a church out in Colorado… in a city that has no churches.  This post is really good.  Are we praying the way God desires us to pray?

Shared Life from Tim Chester
Tim had some great posts last week. If you don’t read any other post, read this one.  A great argument that event-driven small groups (which a great majority of small groups are) are not the same as intentionally living life together with a small group of other Christians, actually sharing life throughout the week instead of just meeting once a week.

Jesus and Politics from Jesus Creed (Scot McKnight)
Can telling people verbally about Jesus be separated from social justice?  Should it be?  A great “rant”.

Finally, several Fridays ago I did an RLT Cinema post on Zac Smith, a believer with terminal cancer whose story touched a lot of people.  He passed away yesterday.  His wife’s tweet announcing his passing was simple and significant:  “My love, [Zac] is with Jesus. To God be the glory.”  Amen to that.  His video is in the #2 position in the RLT Cinema player to the right.  Totally worth the time to watch.

About Aaron

Aaron is a follower of Jesus. He's married to his smokin' hot wife Laura and is the father of three adorable girls. He enjoys a robust cigar, a complex root beer, a good movie, writing, football, thought-provoking books, and rousing discussions about subjects you're not supposed to talk about (like theology and politics). Religious people irritate him (because he once was one). He's on a quest to find the perfect dry rub and sauce for ribs.
