Walking the Road: 5/24/10 Edition

Every Monday, I’m going to post links to some thought provoking blogs I’ve read in the past week from people who are trying to follow Jesus.  Some posts I agree with; others I don’t.  Either way, they stirred my thinking.  I hope they’ll do the same for you.

A lot of good posts out there last week.  So many that I’m splitting this post into two parts:

A Culture of Honor from Swerve
Jesus could not do miracles in his hometown because of their lack of honor.  Could a lack of honor of God be what’s holding the American church back today?

Slow Church from Tim Chester
We’re in too much of a hurry.  We need to slow down in many areas of life.  Chester’s excellent post mentions three areas we must slow down in.

Steve Jobs on Freedom and Porn from Tim Chester
I’m not a Mac fan, but I’ve certainly got more respect for the brand and for Mr. Black Turtle Neck himself–Steve Jobs–after a recent email exchange between the Mac mogul and a critic was made public this week concerning the idea of freedom.

Viral Gospel from Jesus Creed (Scot McKnight)
An excellent post on the current discussion on what the gospel of Jesus is, and the dangers having only a “fire insurance” view or only a “social justice” view of the gospel can result in.

Jesus and the Buddha on Happiness from Desiring God
Excellent post on a core difference between Buddhism and Christianity.

About Aaron

Aaron is a follower of Jesus. He's married to his smokin' hot wife Laura and is the father of three adorable girls. He enjoys a robust cigar, a complex root beer, a good movie, writing, football, thought-provoking books, and rousing discussions about subjects you're not supposed to talk about (like theology and politics). Religious people irritate him (because he once was one). He's on a quest to find the perfect dry rub and sauce for ribs.
