My Top 5 Favorite Albums (Coming Monday)

I’ll be at the beach on Monday while the rest of you are working.  So next week, I’m going to reveal my Top 5 favorite albums.  My criteria for this is simple:

  1. I have to be able to listen to every song on the album. While most people don’t do so (especially now in the age of the mp3), the rule is that I wouldn’t mind listening to the entire album straight through.
  2. It cannot be a “Greatest Hits” album. Many times, artists envision an album as one cohesive unit.  Greatest hits albums rip individual songs from those units.  They are, however, still cool–usually a one-stop-shop for your favorite songs.

That’s it.  Along with each entry, I’ll include a video for a song off each album (hopefully one of the lesser known tunes off each album).  Now, here are some honorable mentions that didn’t quite make the top 5.

The Rest of the Best
I could listen to these, but they’re not quite in the top 5…

  • Pearl Jam, “Ten”
  • Pearl Jam, “Vs.”
  • Stone Temple Pilots, “Core”
  • Green Day, “Dookie”
  • Rage Against the Machine, self-titled
  • Rage Against the Machine, “Evil Empire”

Honorable Mention
I like these albums as a whole, but I couldn’t listen to every song…

  • Korn, “Follow the Leader”
  • Disturbed, “The Sickness”
  • Sevendust, “Home”
  • Linkin Park, “Hybrid Theory”
  • Linkin Park, “Meteora”
  • Live, “Secret Samadhi”
  • Creed, “My Own Prison”
  • Staind, “Break the Cycle”
  • Keane, “Hopes and Fears”
  • Metallica, the black album
  • Counting Crows, “August and Everything After”

Monday, we kick off the countdown with #5…

About Aaron

Aaron is a follower of Jesus. He's married to his smokin' hot wife Laura and is the father of three adorable girls. He enjoys a robust cigar, a complex root beer, a good movie, writing, football, thought-provoking books, and rousing discussions about subjects you're not supposed to talk about (like theology and politics). Religious people irritate him (because he once was one). He's on a quest to find the perfect dry rub and sauce for ribs.
